HEATHER House provides temporary shelter, food and case  management to the homeless. The shelter has 24 beds for families and single women.

Clients receive assistance in job searches and in locating permanent housing, as well as life skills training which includes budgeting, parenting and nutrition.

Prospective clients 16-years and older are required to undergo drug testing and background checks before being admitted to the facility and must remain drug-free throughout their entire stay (maximum 60 days).
The HEATHER House Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Program began in November of 2001.  The Council took a leap of faith and stepped in to rescue the city of Fairfield’s homeless shelter, when the previous contractor ran out of funds. Since opening, we have assisted over 1100 clients. For those completing the program, 92% have been able to move into permanent housing.

Heather House is a zero drug/alcohol tolerance shelter. With a curfew, mandatory meeting attendance (NA/AA), parenting, budgeting, life skills, etc.) daily job/housing searches and chores, our residents are given the “hand up” that they desperately need. There are no fees attached to services at the shelter, and homeless families receive case management and an individualized case plan to help them return to self-sufficiency.

The Council has partnered with Healthy Start, Child Haven, the Community Action Agency, The Salvation Army, Solano County Mental Health, Youth and Family Services, the Solano County Homeless Shelter Collaborative and Child Protective Services to ensure that families are given the necessary tools to strengthen their families, clean up their credit/eviction issues, find gainful employment and move into permanent housing.

We extend an open invitation to all faith communities, individuals and business partners who would like to make a difference in Solano County to join us in this important work.
